I actually got back to the game now and couple of years have passed since this thread was more or less active. What has changed? What is the status of the game?

As the last update was done somewhen around 2012, to me it seems that the game is left on its own now. Players are maxing their titles out and only hard-core players are left in the game. It's nice to see newcomers, but it's hard to say for how long will they stay with the game. Titles now are more available than ever and require less skill, basically you can buy everything as long as you have the in game dollars.

I really wonder how long will the game last in such a phase, as the elite items (bds, vs) are overfarmed and often you see a bloke with bds on each of his heroes. It's all good, but im just wondering how do you see the game and its economy evolving in next few years and how do you see it now, comparing to the time when we received more or less regular updates.
Also, as discussed before in this topic, there was some talk about special team assigned to further develop gw1. However, as we all see that is not the case today. Is the community still expecting something to change?

Hi. I'd say it depends on what exactly you consider game updates, as if you'll open the Official Wiki, you'll notice that...

As for your other question, it's hard to make wide-scale predictions with pinpoint accuracy here. There are certain things that's been improved since the last autumn, also, there are some which yet haven't. If you'll take a look at ArenaNet's feedback pages, you'll find that the game hasn't been abandoned entirely, though the updates are proceeding slowly.

Let's say I've got certain expectations based on what's been suggested to the devs by the end of the last year & implemented after while, though it's too early to put certain concepts within the list of things with high probability to happen, let's just specify mine are somehow associated with Alliance Battles, however, I'd prefer not to speculate on anything like that beforehand, as such improvements require significant input in designing, programming & upfront-testing combined.

No there is only a maintenance crew (maybe a single person for all I know) patching a few things. The one update lately was the 10th anniversary stuff which was fun.

There have been new people in the game. It's a great bargain price wise and with no monthly fees it's the best deal out there. Some come over from GW2 for HoM or just to check out the first version. Others just buy it randomly or someone tells them about it.

The Hero's Pack along with having 7 heroes (in game or your own or combo) means you don't have to depend on PUGs which is a good thing. Hated PUGs for the most part. Always some 12-year old "warrior" running ahead getting everyone killed over and over again...yuck.

A good Guild gives you all the support you need if you are new and the excellent wiki is a must guide. So the playability is still top notch.

I don't know that you can just buy titles other than the three consumables. If you mean someone to run you through missions, there was more of that years back when there were more people on. So it's more about earning them yourself these days. That's where the heroes help compensate for lack of in game help.

The GW servers are part of the GW2 server farm and the lack of population here makes GW1's cut of the servers very miniscule. Next to nothing really. So it takes basically nothing to keep the game up and running. So there is no worry about the "servers being shut down" unless they pull the plug on GW2 as well.
